How do I make the actual pie part?

If you’ve never so much as turned your oven on before, no problemo! You only need to buy 3 things: - A can of pie filling - A pre-made pie shell - A pre-made roll out crust Then do this: - Preheat your oven to 400 degrees - Unroll the pre-made roll out crust and cut out shapes with your Pie Guide - Dump the can of filling into the pre-made shell - Put the cut out shapes on top of the filling - Stick the pie in the oven for 45 minutes - Serve = Pie Hero! How do I let you know which Pie Guide or Powder Guide I want?

After the campaign is over, I will send out a survey asking you to specify which Guide you want. Easy peasy! Last updated: Wed, Oct 26 2016 10:17 am EDT

I want to give this as a Christmas Present right meow!!!1!!

Ok! I gotcha covered. Here’s what you do: 1. On Nov 30th when the campaign ends, everyone will be sent a download link to a special “Gift Announcement Card” which showcases the Pie Guides in action and has a place for a special personal message from you. 2. Print out this card. 3. Buy a pie pan (one dollar at the one dollar store!) 4. Put the card into the pie pan. 5. Wrap it up. 6. Present to that special someone who will now know exactly what they’ve got coming to them in April (just in time for Spring fruit pie bakin’) AND has a lovely physical gift to stick under the tree - as per tradition. Easy bo beezy. Last updated: Sat, Nov 5 2016 4:57 pm EDT

Hey! Why aren’t you offering a “Ninja Panda Pie Guide” or a “Space Narwhal Pie Guide” or a [whatever my favourite geeky thing is] Pie Guide? What’s wrong with you?!!

First off, take a breath. All good? Okay. If it’s geeky or incorporates a pun of some sort, I’ve probably got a design for it already! But I had to narrow it down for the first batch and I went with a broad cross-section of subject matter to see what level of cute/violent/nerdy/weird/etc. resonates most with people. But if there is a particular subject you’d really like to see in Pie Guide form let me know! You never know what “round two” might bring… Last updated: Wed, Oct 26 2016 10:17 am EDT

How big are the Pie Guides and what are they made of?

Each pie guide fits within an 8” diameter circle, and is made of a flexible food grade styrene. I am still experimenting with different colours and transparencies and hope to be able to offer a wide variety of purdy colours. Last updated: Wed, Oct 26 2016 10:17 am EDT

The Powder Guides call for egg whites to adhere the powder, but I’m a vegan.

That’s not really a question, but I will tell you that you can use any vaguely sticky substance - a bit of oil or vegan butter substitute - to stick on the powder. Just don’t let it get too runny or the powder will bleed into the areas it shouldn’t be. Last updated: Wed, Oct 26 2016 10:17 am EDT

What images can I use for the Ultimate Custom Pie Guide?

The Ultimate Custom Pie Guides are meant to work best with a single face - the larger the face on the pie, the higher the detail and the fidelity to the original image. However, it may be possible to squeeze in two faces as in the case of a wedding couple. Your image should be high resolution with good lighting and high contrast. I will work with you to select an image that will translate best into the medium of pie. Last updated: Wed, Oct 26 2016 10:17 am EDT

Can you make me an Ultimate Custom Pie Guide of a licensed character or celebrity?

Unfortunately no - unless you can get said celebrity or intellectual property-owner to sign a licensing agreement giving you the right to use their likeness in pie-form. Maybe carry some contracts around with you just in case you bump into George Lucas on the bus… Last updated: Wed, Oct 26 2016 10:17 am EDT

Why do you keep saying “geek”? What do you mean by that? What is a “geek” anyway?

Excellent question! My favourite answer to that comes from blogger John Scalzi, who wrote a lovely post called “Who gets to be a geek?” Have a read and you’ll understand my stance on the use of the term as well: http://whatever.scalzi.com/2012/07/26/who-gets-to-be-a-geek-anyone-who-wants-to-be/ An excerpt: “Geekdom is a nation with open borders. There are many affiliations and many doors into it. There are lit geeks, media geeks, comics geeks, anime and manga geeks. There are LARPers, cosplayers, furries, filkers, crafters, gamers and tabletoppers. There are goths and horror geeks and steampunkers and academics. There are nerd rockers and writers and artists and actors and fans. Some people love only one thing. Some people flit between fandoms. Some people are positively poly in their geek enthusiasms. Some people have been in geekdom since before they knew they were geeks. Some people are n00bs, trying out an aspect of geekdom to see if it fits. If it does, great. If it doesn’t then at least they tried it.” At the end of the day, Pie Guides are about fun, and fun should be inclusive. The more the merrier right? Last updated: Wed, Oct 26 2016 10:17 am EDT

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
